Former SuperSport United and AmaZulu defender Ayabulela Konqobe Magqwaka is set to make a Chippa United return.
The 26-year-old was with Cape Town All Stars last season in the National First Division and helped the team to finish third and qualify for playoffs.
A source confirmed that Konqobe is edging closer to making his return to the Eastern Cape-based side just one season after he left the club.
The former South Africa under 20 international has a lot of experience, having also played his trade in Sweden where he made 22 appearances and scored six goals. This won’t be a new environment for “AK” as he was at Chilli Boys in the 2020/21 season.
It will be Konqobe’s third spell with Chippa United after 2017 to 2019 and during 2020/21 season. Overall, he’s made 36 appearances for the Chilli Boys so far.
Chippa United is sitting eighth on the log after nine games played, collecting three wins, two draws and four losses.
They recently dismissed Daine Klate as head coach, with Morgan Mammila being named as an assistant to Siyabulela Gwambi as a head coach on their team sheets.
Their next encounter will be against Kaizer Chiefs on 15 October in Durban.
