Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa says the support received by the squad is essential to keep performing at a high level.
The 2023/24 Golden Boot winner recently ended his goal-drought with a hattrick in their 8-1 thrashing over Marumo Gallants before missing out against Magesi due to suspension.
But he admits the comradery in the group and technical team is what can help him continue to contribute to their objectives of chasing silverware this season.
“It’s very important, if you are not okay mentally as a footballer, there’s nothing positive you can do on the field, trust me,” Mabasa said.
“You need to be in a proper mental state in order for you to perform at the top level. The support from the team is amazing, honestly. I get goosebumps talking about it, it’s crazy and I can only credit them [for what they do], for me to [score goals].
“I just want to say thank you and I’m happy to be repaying the faith they all have in me.”
The 28-year-old has scored 38 goals with five assists in 106 games for The Buccaneers since his arrival from Bloemfontein Celtic in July 2019.
