Rulani Wins Another Accolade, Pirates Star Also Bags Award

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has scooped the DStv Premiership Coach of the Month award for May.

After seven games played, Sundowns secured four wins, two draws and one defeat, being the final game of the season when Cape Town City downed them 1-0 at Loftus Versfeld.

It ended their pursuit of the first-ever invincible season in Premier Soccer League history but culminated in Sundowns lifting their seventh successive league title.

Mokwena is a favourite to secure the PSL Coach of the Season honour after being nominated alongside Jose Riveiro and Steve Barker for the coveted award.

Meanwhile, Golden Boot winner Tshegofatso Mabasa was named Player of the Month in May after netting five goals in five games for Orlando Pirates.

Mabasa, who is the second Pirates player to win a monthly individual award this season, after Thabiso Lebitso, beat Cape Town City’s Jaedin Rhodes, Oswin Appollis of Polokwane City and Sanele Barns from Richards Bay to the May award.

Meanwhile, Moroka Swallows’ midfielder Lindokuhle Mtshali, has won the last DStv Premiership Goal of the Month award for the season, as he took home the prize for May. Mtshali showed great technique in executing his goal from the edge of the 18-yard area in Swallows win over Stellenbosch FC.
