Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr has explained why they took their pre-season to Turkey.
Chiefs touched down back in South Africa on Wednesday afternoon led by new head coach Nasreddine Nabi who received a warm welcome from supporters at OR Tambo.
“I think [the trip] was an important part of our plan for the technical staff, we had three weeks, it’s given the club the time to come together as a group, with the technical staff and their new ideas,” Motaung Jnr tells iDiski Times.
“I think that it was very gruelling, intense pre-season, good fixtures, good tests, it’s always very important in pre-season to make sure you get away, for morale, for team spirit and a new environment where you can solely focus on the task at hand.
“So I think it was very important for the club, I think we’ve done very well so far, and yeah, looking forward to the next steps.”
The Soweto giants will have their 2024/25 kit launch tomorrow, before Nabi’s first press conference in Mzansi ahead of the Toyota Cup clash against Young Africans, his former club, on Sunday at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
