Kaizer Chiefs Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung says patience is required after he handed over the baton of power at the Soweto giants.
The founder of the most supported club in the country has seen an unprecedented trophy drought of eight years leaving more questions than answers of late.
But this week after he was inducted into the South African Hall of Fame, his son and Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr said they will work tirelessly to bring back the glory days for what his legacy deserves.
“I believe what he is saying makes sense, I have given my baton over to them to continue the journey, so it’s a responsibility on their shoulders and of course, I can only look on the wayside, look and support them in any or whatever way I can do,” he said when asked by iDiski Times.
“[I will] support their initiatives to ensure this brand continues to grow by leaps and bounds. I can only say to the fans thank you very much for the support over the years and continue supporting the team you have so much love for.
“With a little bit of patience, it will do a great deal of help, we’re in a rebuilding stage at the moment – and we want to continue the journey, making sure it’s successful so we can become strong, but we also rely on their strength and we thank them for that.”
Chiefs have started the season in indifferent fashion, out of the MTN8, Carling Knockout and 10th in the DStv Premiership, 10 points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns – who have played four games fewer.
