Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mothobi Mvala has hailed the signing of Keanu Cupido from Cape Town City.
The 27-year-old centre-back has been a long-term target for Sundowns since emerging as one of the leading defenders in the league with the Citizens.
Sundowns have forked out around R11-million to secure his signature from City as he joins a talented squad which includes AFCON bronze medalist centre-backs with Bafana Bafana, Grant Kekana and Mvala.
“He’s a top player, number one; and it’s a good signing for the team and we know he’s going to help us to achieve the team’s goals,” Mvala said on Wednesday evening.
“We will be there to help him, to guide him on how things are done in the team, so it’s a good signing for the team – you know at Sundowns we have a lot of games, so everyone needs to be ready to play.
“So when others are rested, or the team changes, you must change it with top players.”

Mvala, 30, has been restricted to only eight appearances in all competitions this season due to injury, is nearing a return to fitness and provided an update on his progress.
“I’ve been working very hard in the gym to strengthen my knee, but everything has been going very well,” he said.
“I have started running outside the field now and hopefully I will be there in the pictures now on our media platforms.”
Sundowns were drawn against Mpheni Home Defenders in the last-16 of the Nedbank Cup.
