Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says one or two results does not define the project at the club.
After suffering their 11th defeat of the league season, and now on a winless run of six games, Chiefs have dropped outside the top eight, when a few weeks ago, they looked poised to still challenge for the top three this season.
While they have qualified for the Nedbank Cup final after ousting Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld, the furore and ecstasy the fans enjoyed on the night in Tshwane seems to be fading ahead of the double Soweto Derby.
Chiefs host Orlando Pirates next weekend, before the domestic cup final – and after losing to Gallants and the 0-0 draw with Chippa United that proceeded the win over Mamelodi Sundowns, Nabi feels nothing has changed in terms of their foundation being laid.
“To convince the fans about the process is not going to depend on one or two games – you understand what I’m saying, you need to be logical, if you talk about a process it’s not the result of one or two games,” Nabi said.
“It’s not like that to be in line with the process, you agree with me – yes we are still on track, we have evaluation of a four-step process this season. You have the key, you align this process.
“It’s not about one or two [wins], maybe you get a good result, but it’s not because of winning or losing when you saying the process is right or not.”
Chiefs host Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 3 May at 15h00 – with three points needed to keep their pursuit of securing a spot in next season’s MTN8 alive.
