Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says they had a meeting with Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung Snr and what is needed in terms of the next transfer window is clear.
Nabi stated after the Nedbank Cup triumph that he wouldn’t likely remain at the club next season if they squad was not improved with quality players to improve their game model and execute what he’s looking to build, tactically.
While there have also been suggestions that he will be sacked for what has been deemed as an underperforming campaign in the league – as Chiefs finished outside the top eight again.
“I think yesterday we had an exchange with the Chairman, we know exactly what needs to be done in terms of players,” he said when asked about his comments of leaving if the squad is not improved.
“I will not say how many or which players we need but the recruitment department is working very hard and knows the needs of the team and contact has already started. We hope that when we get what we need, we are sure the team will improve a lot.”
Going into the end of season meeting with the club’s hierarchy which is said to be the final discussion before deciding whether he willl continue, Nabi was once against straight to the point.
“The management know already, we’ve had a couple of meetings, they know what needs to be done and which areas need to improve,” he said about the end of season review.
“About the evaluation, obviously our league finish was not expected or what I feel we deserved, it’s not a good standing but on the other hand, it was a difficult season but we managed to win a cup – and I would not rate myself but I would rate this season, which I consider not to be a negative season due to winning a cup.”
“We managed to get further in our process as now we know exactly what needs to be done, even if I admit I’m not happy with the finish in the league.”
