Nabi Left Frustrated After 10th League Defeat

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says it’s hard to accept what happened in their defeat to Golden Arrows and touched on the injury of Thabo Cele.

Arrows completed the league double of Chiefs, which marked their 10th league defeat in 23 league games since Nabi’s appointment at the Soweto giants.

The target of securing CAF inter-club qualification for next season appears to be fading away, while Arrows and the likes of Chippa now close in on Amakhosi’s position in the top-eight.

“We feel we controlled the game in the first half and could have scored as we were in a very good moment but we didn’t,” Nabi told SABC Sport.

“The injury of Thabo Cele in the first half, disorganised us a bit in the second half, in terms of liasing with the defence and attack, we didn’t start well in the second half.

“But the changes we made made us come back into the game, then we conceded a goal out of nowhere and after that it’s very difficult to come back from that.”

Captain Yusuf Maart missed a penalty and score on either side of Nduduzo Sibiya and Knoz Mutizwa’s goals at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this afternoon and Nabi admits it was bitter pill to swallow.

“The fans of Chiefs need to understand… we feel we should have scored in the opening half when we had better moments and positive to create better opportunities, when you don’t score, it costs us.

“It’s a very tough loss today and hard to accept. It puts the club and team in a difficult position and the fans of this club has no joy.”
