Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has insisted his side should have received a penalty, which would have changed the outcome of the Soweto Derby.
Amakhosi lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates despite scoring in the second minute but goals by Evidence Makgopa and Relebohile Mofokeng saw Pirates run out victors.
It was Nabi’s second derby defeat, as Pirates completed back-to-back league doubles over their rivals.
The result saw Chiefs remain outside the top eight, while Pirates close their gap on Mamelodi Sundowns to nine points.
After the final whistle, Nabi says referee Eugene Mdluli should have awarded his side an early penalty which could have made it 2-0, when Mbekezeli Mbokazi appeared to bring to down Mduduzi Shabalala inside the box.
“I don’t think it’s a psychological thing,” he told SuperSport TV.
“When we were leading 1-0 there was a clear penalty. If we get the penalty the game is going to be completely different.
“It was individual mistakes that gave the opportunity to the opponent. We feel today we gave the victory to the opponent.”
