Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has opened up on his conversation with referee Sikhumbuzo Gasa at half-time.
The Tunisian mentor was visibly upset with the officiating, with the match official also forcing the Chiefs bench to remove their iPad after they reviewed Sundowns’ second goal, claiming their was an offside in the build-up.
After the match Nabi was asked about his conversation with the match official after he was seen remonstrating with Gasa as they left the pitch at the break, and unlike in the official press conference, he shared his thoughts on SuperSport TV, calling for VAR in SA and the referee to respect the rules of the game.
“All the people tell me the second goal is offside, it’s a clear offside,” he stated.
“I’m surprised in South Africa we don’t work with VAR – it’s impossible in Morocco, Tunisia, in North Africa.
“A big country like South Africa with a big federation and national team and we don’t work with VAR.
“We talk to referee, [saying] the goal is big offside, 2 meter. We go to the [change] room, ‘you don’t need to give me a gift’ I said to him.
“I don’t need a gift, he needs to respect the rules of game. You need to respect me, I don’t need any help from the referees.
“But it’s not an excuse. If I lose, I lose, I continue cooking.”
Chiefs are now on a break until 26 October, when they will face SuperSport United on Match Day four.
