Kaizer Chiefs head coach has explained why Njabulo Blom is not part of the playing squad in their season opener against Marumo Gallants.
Blom, 24, was a surprise signing from Chiefs as they lured him back to the club from Major League Soccer outfit St Louis City SC, where he had a fallout with their new head coach.
Despite being one of their key players during the tenure of Bradely Carnell, the MLS side allowed Blom to return to Amakhosi on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
“Not all the players are ready, especially some of the new ones like Blom, he’s not ready yet, he needs a bit more physical preparation,” Nabi said on SABC Sport before the game.
“But I am very happy for the signing of Blom, thank you very much from the committee, he’s a big, big player – but I need to protect him because he’s not ready 100%, his condition is not 100%, but I’m excited to see Blom starting for the team [soon].”
Chiefs take on Gallants this afternoon at the Toyota Stadium in Nabi first competitive game since succeeding Molefi Ntseki.
