Nabi – Why I Attended Sundowns Games

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says it was imperative for him to attend live games before the start of the 2024/25 season.

The Chiefs coach was spotted at two home games for Sundowns in the MTN8 this season as Amakhosi were yet to feature in a competitive game.

With the club not qualifying for the competition, their first official fixture will take place at the Toyota Stadium next week in their league opener against Marumo Gallants.

“I was watching the games to see the level of the PSL, I knew already that it has a good level in Africa, so I went to watch the games with my own eyes live, I’ve been watching it on tv so I wanted to watch it live,” he explained.

“The PSL is a big league, a very big league in Africa, I think one of the biggest, the top three.”

The former AS FAR and Young Africans coach also stated he’s not happy with the level of his squad yet, having worked over the past month with the team in pre-season but is confident they are making positive inroads.

“We worked hard with the team [in pre-season], we know we are Kaizer Chiefs, a big brand in football, in Africa, so their expectation is high, if I had to answer your question ‘I am happy with the team’, I am not happy yet,” Nabi said when asked by iDiski Times if he’s happy with where they are as a team.

“I know what I’m doing, and we will get where we want to be [in terms of the performance of the squad].”

Chiefs have signed seven new players ahead of their league opener, Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Bradley Cross, Ficare Ntwari, Inacio Miguel, Gaston Sirino and Njabulo Blom on loan.
