Rwanda goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari says his indifferent form at Kaizer Chiefs is not just down to him as an individual.
The 25-year-old joined Chiefs in the off-season from TS Galaxy as they boosted their goalkeeping department upon the exit of club legend Itumeleng Khune.
Brandon Petersen’s injury saw the towering stopper immediately thrown into the deep end ahead of Bruce Bvuma and Bontle Molefe, the club’s other goalkeeping options.
But the jury is still out on Ntwari with 11 goals conceded in seven games and only one clean sheet.
“It’s not about me being the problem. The issue is the team isn’t in a good place right now,” Ntwari said while on international duty, as per The New Times.
“We started the season well, but over the last three games, we haven’t performed as expected. This is a team with a passionate fan base, and the pressure to win every match is always there.
“It’s not a big deal. These things happen in football. You can’t win every match, and sometimes fans don’t handle that well. But that’s the reality of the sport. I believe things will improve in the coming days.”
Ntwari will be aiming to get back up to speed upon returning to Johannesburg after suffering an injury during their 2-1 win over Nigeria in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
