Otladisa Touchline Fracas Explained

Sekhukhune United winger Katlego Otladisa was seen in a heated altercation on the bench in their defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday.

Babina Noko were on the brink of holding Sundowns to a goalless draw and force the game into penalties but Jayden Adams scored the much-celebrated winner in the 118th minute for Masandawana.

Instead of upsetting Sundowns, an incident on Sekhukhune’s bench made the headlines after the final whistle.

On-loan Orlando Pirates man Otladisa was set off by his teammate Keletso Makgalwa, who was said to have urged the player to show more enthusiasm to warm-up to potentially make his way onto the pitch.

Otladisa didn’t take his words kindly and was seen having to be restrained by his teammates in the argument with the in-form Babina Noko star.

Management were left displeased by the saga but are willing to remain patient with the player who is said to be going through personal issues that need to be resolved.

Otladisa has since taken to social media to apologise for his actions.

“I’d like to apologise to the Sekhukhune family and all viewers for my behaviour I displayed on Friday evening,” he wrote.

“Different were on display with a close friend at the team about the task at hand, a task we had as the Sekhukhune family… the matter should have been resolved in a respectable manner.

“However the of the modern game requires winners, problem solvers and most importantly people who can work together.

“Still, my actions were out of line and not in tact with the structures in short. Apologies to all.”

Sekhukhune return to action on Sunday when they will face new coach Eric Tinkler’s former side Cape Town City away from home.
