Marumo Gallants goalkeeper Emile Lako has been called up to the Cameroon squad for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
After failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and reaching the quarter-final of the AFCON in Morocco, it’s a new dawn for the Central African giants under head coach David Pagou.

Lako, who joined Gallants in the off-season from Real Native (formerly Casric Stars) has been listed in the 26-man squad ahead of the likes of Andre Onana – who has endured a tumultuous relationship with the Indomitable Lions.
The 27-year-old, who arrived in South Africa two years ago after starring at Coton Sport in his home country, has conceded seven goals in his opening three games in the South African top-flight.
He joins the likes of Manchester United superstar Brayn Mbeumo in the squad who face Comoros and Congo Brazzaville in late September before ending off with an international friendly against Ivory Coast on 3 October.
