PSL Promotion Playoffs On Hold

The Premier Soccer League promotional playoffs are set to begin on a new date amidst confusion.

The Betway Premiership still has an outstanding game between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows to be completed after the game was abandoned in February at half-time with a 1-1 scoreline.

It has now finally been confirmed, three months later, that the match will continue from 45 minutes as it was abandoned during half-time with the new date is set for Thursday, 29 May at 12:00.

The playoffs were set to kick off on Tuesday, 27 May, with two Motsepe Foundation Championship sides, second and third-placed facing each other but this publication has it on good authority that the game won’t go ahead.

Arrows managed to avoid the promotional playoffs after their 3-2 win over Sekhukhune United this past weekend, leaving SuperSport in the playoffs spot and Cape Town City just above them.

Matsatsantsa could go above City with a draw against Arrows in the 45 minutes they will play, which would send City to the playoffs.

There are also still question marks about who is participating from the MFC. While JDR Stars’ case last week against league winners Durban City with the PSL DC was dismissed, it is believed that it, and a protest by Cape Town Spurs have gone to arbitration, with no date confirmed yet for that too.

Orbit College and Casric Stars are currently set to play in those playoffs.
