Saile Makes Comparison As He Discusses Scoring Issues

Kaizer Chiefs forward Christian Saile admits the style of play in Zambia and the DStv Premiership is vastly different, as he discussed his lack of goals.

The DR Congo forward has only netted six goals with two assists in 34 games since his arrival from Nchanga Rangers in January 2023.

“There’s a big difference in the way they play in Zambia and the way we play here. In Zambia there’s a lot of running and a lot of counter-attacks,” Saile said on his lack of consistency in scoring goals.

“Here it’s more possession football and you know you have to avail yourself for [possession] and over there the defenders sometimes give you the ball to score the goals.”

Going into their last league game of 2023, with an inconsistent Richards Bay at FNB Stadium on Saturday, Saile is congnizant of what is at stake as they target a top three spot in the league.

“The game we’re going to play this weekend is an important game for us and our season, it’s been a good season, I’ve enjoyed being here and I hope this weekend we can go out, play as a team, work hard because it’s going to be a difficult game – hopefully we win and end the year on a high and end this season at least third or second,” Saile said.

“It’s normal for strikers to feel under pressure, not only the strikers but the whole team if we not scoring goals, because we’re creating opportunities but every game, we’re trying our best to score and gain confidence – hopefully we can continue working hard and continue to try to score more goals.”
