Solomons On Chiefs Fans And New Target

Kaizer Chiefs utility man Dillon Solomons says he’s appreciative of the support he’s received from fans and that they are targeting CAF Champions League qualification.

Chiefs take on Stellenbosch, who occupy the second place in the DStv Premiership, the spot they are fighting for, with Chiefs in seventh, five points behind and played one game more.

However, it’s a six-pointer at FNB Stadium on Tuesday evening, where Solomons, who fans have been calling to feature more, will be looking to feature in.

“Yeah look obviously as a player you want to play as many games as you can but for me it was just about patience, there were players in my position doing well,” Solomons said when asked about the support from fans.

“And now that the coach is asking me to do different jobs it shows that I’m versatile and I can do the jobs he needs me to do. And to have support from the fans, it means the world to me, it gives me the edge, it gives me the fire. So hopefully I can make them happy.”

After failing to secure three points at a sold-out Athlone Stadium where Amakhosi fans dominated the stands in Cape Town, Solomons said that type of loyalty is needed if they will have any chance of securing the final Champions League spot.

“We’re grateful for the support we’re getting it means a lot to us, we’ve not lived up to expectations but we’re trying our best, we’re giving everything we have and I think that should help us in the long run,” he said about the fans still coming out in their numbers.

“We ask that they continue supporting us, being there for us, it means a lot to players when you see the support week-in-week-out you know, and it will give us the edge as we get closer to the end of the season.

“We have a different goal now and that’s to qualify for the Champions League, that’s the only thing on our minds at the moment, so for us, it’s just to have the 12th man in the stands and hopefully we can get the job done.”
