Cape Town Spurs played their DStv Premiership fixture against Moroka Swallows under protest on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs lost 1-0 at Athlone Stadium after a last-minute goal from Gabadinho Mhango which further compounded their fight for survival in the top-flight.
But it may not be the end of the drama between the two clubs with the Urban Warriors playing the game under protest over alleged irregularities in registering players.
Swallows sacked as many as 22 players, with some later returning with new contracts, which Spurs, in their protest – which was seen by this publication – made before the game, stated may not have been done within the right procedures with the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Daniel Akpeyi, Thakasani Mbanjwa, Mthokozisi Shwabule, Sipho Sibiya, Lantshane Phalane, Givemore Khupe, Lindokuhle Mtshali, Kwanda Mngonyama and Tlakusani Mthethwa were among the players who saw their contracts terminated but were recalled in the same month.
