Stellenbosch FC have roped in Rodet Yila, Jean Du Plessis, Hildah Du Toit, Jason Matter and Solomon Akumba to boast their technical team ahead of a busy 2024/25 season.
Following a good season of 2023/24, which saw them clinch the Carling Knockout Cup Cup and qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup, the Cape Winelands side has now boosted their backroom staff for what what promises to be an even more busy schedule in 2024/25 season.
The CAF inter-club debutants will be competing in five different competitions for the first time, and they felt widening the pool of backroom staff will come in handy.
Yila joins the high performance department where he will work as a first team strength and conditioning coach. He previously worked at relegated Cape Town Spurs.
Du Plessis is a technical analyst who joins the club on permanent basis after helping the club as a freelancer last season. He replaces Devon O’Brien, who recently left to join Orlando Pirates.
The duo of Du Toit and Akumba join the Cape Winelands side at youth level where they will assist as strength and conditioning coaches having both come through Stellenbosch University.
Finally, Matter joins the club’s medical department as the new reserve team physiotherapist.
