Stellies Star On 18-Match Unbeaten Run Ahead Of Chiefs

Stellenbosch FC defender Thabo Moloisane says they not overthinking their 18-match unbeaten run while addressing the recent exits from the club.

The Carling Knockout champions are currently second in the DStv Premiership after a scintillating run of form, with their last defeat coming at Loftus Versfeld with a 3-1 loss to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Now they travel to FNB Stadium to face Kaizer Chiefs, but prior to their win over Royal AM this weekend, the in-form Moloisane said they not getting ahead of themselves over the record.

“I think personally, we’re very lucky to have a coach like Steve [Barker], he always tells us one thing, it’s never what people think about us, it’s never about how many games we win, just about showing up on the day and getting the result,” Moloisane said.

“So it’s not necessarily we want to break records of how long we can go unbeaten, it’s about going into each and every match and showing up.”

The former Sundowns defender went on to address the exits of Kgaogelo Sekgota and Darrel Matcheke who saw their contracts terminated for alleged disciplinary issues, after being asked if there are methods in the squad to combat the issues.

“It’s just a situation, we’re all around the same age, we try to be there for one another, and the most important thing is that we’re all pulling in the same line,” he added on the discipline in the squad.

“At the end of the day, we’re all professionals and know what’s expected of us and it’s generally up to you [what you do].”
