Mamelodi Sundowns extended their unbeaten run to 47 games in the DStv Premiership with the 3-0 win over TS Galaxy at Loftus Versfeld on Monday evening.
Just three days after their CAF Champions League semi-final exit at the hands of Esperance Sportive de Tunis, Sundowns were back in action.
With no time to lick their wounds, head coach Rulani Mokwena made seven changes to his eleven that lost 1-0 to Taraji; as Mosa Lebusa, Terrence Mashego, Themba Zwane, Sphelele Mkhulise, Zuko Mdunyelwa, Tashreeq Matthews and Matias Esquivel were introduced.
And they never looked out of sorts as Shalulile got back to his scoring ways, the first, combining with the influential Zwane to open the scoring.
The second saw Zwane and Matthews double up with back heels to set up Shalulile again to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Second-half substitute Thembinkosi Lorch wrapped up the scoring just after the hour mark as Sundowns took the Rockets to the sword and dented their hopes of CAF inter-club qualification.
Mokwena’s charges moved 13 points ahead of second-placed Stellenbosch and could wrap up the league title against Kaizer Chiefs on Thursday at FNB Stadium with six games to spare.
