Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler has bemoaned his side’s goalscoring problem, saying despite his players having the ability, they struggle to bury chances in the final third.
The Citizens are winless in their last four Betway Premiership matches, with their biggest defeats (3-0) this season coming against arch-rivals Stellenbosch FC and Mamelodi Sundowns, respectively, with Tinkler challenging his players to find a way in breaking down the opposition.

“There’s a situation, one v one out wide you must be able to beat your man. We not seeing a lot of that one v ones in the wide areas, or one v one striker taking on maybe one of the centre-backs.
“We seem to be purely thinking of the position, penetration, and trying to find goals that way, goals have to also sometimes come from the other areas of our game, and they’ve got to be bravery from other people to get in the box and get on the end of things
“That has been the struggle since I’ve been at the club. Every single game we play, we talk about we didn’t create enough chances, our decision-making in the final third wasn’t good enough. We work on it week in week out.
“So, it doesn’t change, we have to keep doing that, it’s all about repetition, but I think we have enough quality in our squad to be ensuring that we get more out of them, but same you can’t say that we scored three goals in the cup where we should that we can so we have to look at those positives and look to focus on that.”
