Vilakazi – Spurs Will Write Their Obituary If…

Richards Bay head coach Vusumzi Vilakazi believes that they are standing a good chance to even avoid the promotional play-offs, especially if they can beat Cape Town Spurs later this month.

Bay and Spurs will meet each other in a six-pointer on 26 April, when they will meet in Cape Town in a clash that could determine who gets relegated from the DStv Premiership.

The Urban Warriors lost their recent matches against Mamelodi Sundowns, Chippa United and Moroka Swallows, which dent their chances of surviving after they had collected eight points in their first four games in 2024.

Vilakazi believes that a win against Spurs will definitely send their opponents to Motsepe Foundation Championship, as Bay would open an eight-points gap on Ernst Middendorp’s team.

“We can’t start preparing for play-offs, we are still in the league,” Vilakazi told the media recently.

“We still need to fight for points in the league, but bear in mind whatever that is happening, definitely Cape Town Spurs will not be equal with our points.

“So that’s what we are fighting for, but we haven’t given up in terms of winning. Because if you talk about seven games, if you win four then we will be talking another language in those seven games.

“It is highly possible that we can win against Chiefs, we take advantage of playing at home and also Cape Town Spurs, which can make things difficult for them if we take those three points they will write their obituary.”
