Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised youngster Simphiwe Masilela following his impressive performance in the Buccaneers’ 2-0 victory over Durban City.
The Buccaneers secured a comfortable win in their Betway Premiership clash against the KwaZulu-Natal side at the Orlando Amstel Arena on Thursday.
Masilela, who was promoted to the senior squad from the club’s youth structures this season, was handed a starting berth and made the most of the opportunity.
The youngster produced a confident display and provided an assist for Tshepang Moremi’s goal.
Ouaddou was delighted with what he saw from Masilela, saying the performance was exactly the type of football he wants from his young players.
The Pirates gaffer felt there was little more he could have asked from the youngster, who delivered an almost flawless performance on the day.
“If you see Masilela today [Thursday], well done,” said Ouaddou after he was asked about having the youngest team in the league.
“I’m not asking for more, I’m not asking for more. This is the football that I like. This is the high level.
“And I push him to continue to be efficient like that and to play pure football, you know, and to leave these things on the side and to play football. But I’m happy. I have to say it.
“This is my job as a coach, is to improve players, young players, to play this kind of football.”
