Richards Bay looks poised to appoint Dimitar Pantev just a week after his proposed move to Marumo Gallants broke down.

The Natal Rich Boyz have endured a winless start to their 2026/27 league campaign with three draws and three defeats – leading to the exit of Ronnie Gabriel as head coach on Thursday.

Former TS Galaxy head coach Adnan Beganovic and Phuti Mohafe, formerly of Marumo Gallants and Polokwane City were both in contention for the role, but iDiski Times have been informed Pantev looks set to take over.

The Bulgarian, the predecessor of Steve Barker at Simba SC won the league in Botswana with Gaborone United and has been known for his attacking style of play since his arrival in Africa.

He was in advanced talks with Gallants last week, but the proposed move fell through in the final stages over wage demands – and the club has since appointed Ronnie Fillemon Kanalelo for the role.

Pantev is set to arrive at the club later today to complete the move, barring any last-minute changes as a new era begins for the club, with their first European coach since winning promotion to the South African top-flight.
