Richards Bay have shortlisted Phuti Mohafe and Adnan Beganovic as their potential new head coach as pressure intensifies on Ronnie Gabriel at the helm.
Gabriel looks likely to be relieved from his role as head coach, the job he earned after the exit of Papi Zothwane, whom he was co-head coach alongside during the 2025/26 season.
This comes after a winless start to the new campaign, with three draws and three defeats, including the most recent 5-1 thrashing of Premiership rookies Milford this past weekend.
Mohafe, who parted ways after just five games with Marumo Gallants – the club he joined after three impressive seasons with Polokwane City – establishing the club in the league after winning promotion – was an early front runner for the role at the Natal Richboyz.
But sources within the club have confirmed contact has now been made with Beganovic, who left TS Galaxy towards the latter stages of last season after leading them to the Nedbank Cup final.
It’s been suggested that talks have been progressing well with the Bosnian’s camp, however there are other contenders for the role, should Gabriel be replaced before the upcoming FIFA International break.
As reported in the iDiski Times e-paper this Tuesday, the club are likely to follow the likes of Sekhukhune United, Gallants and Siwelele in coaching shake-ups with the latter two clubs in the bottom three alongside the Kwa-Zulu Natal based outfit.
