Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has touched on their transfer plans for next season after already wrapping up three deals.
Chiefs have already confirmed the pre-contract agreement of Botswana captain Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United while Given Msimango and Mduduzi Mdantsane have also been wrapped up from TS Galaxy and Cape Town City respectively.
While Zwane remained mum when quizzed on those arrivals last week, he shed some insight into how they are going about their business to beef up their squad to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the title, with a current 20 point gap between the two sides.
“We’re doing things gradually, we’re looking at things differently, why I say differently… because the game has changed, you know? Right now we have to look at ourselves, we shouldn’t worry about what Sundowns are doing,” Zwane said.
“Yes it’s a fact Sundowns are doing well, but if we were to focus on Sundowns and not focus on what we can do right to take the team back to where it belongs, it would be the biggest mistake that we can make.
“Right now we’re focusing on what we can do to help the team and bring it back to where it belongs and bring back the glory days. And with the support we’re getting as a technical team, I see us getting closer, closer [to our goals].
“Whoever we bring on board will be a need, more than just a player that is doing very well for a certain team, someone that needs to come here and add value, that is why we are doing proper profiling of players with how we want to play and how they can come in and add value.
“It’s pointless for us to bring a player because he is doing well for his team right now and not able to come to help us and shine like that as well and play in a system that suits him so we focusing on ourselves.”
Chiefs are aiming for six consecutive wins in all competitions when they host Marumo Gallants at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening (20h00).
