Al Ahly Legend – Chiefs Are An Average Team
Al Ahly legend Ahmed Hassan has insisted that Kaizer Chiefs are “an average team” ahead of his former side’s CAF Champions League final against Amakhosi.
Mosimane’s side secured their second successive CAF Champions League final after beating Esperance 4-0 on aggregate.
Last year, Al Ahly won the final 2-1 against city rivals Zamalek and they could lift their 10th continental crown if they were to beat Chiefs this time around.
Hassan, who is Egypt’s most capped player at international level after making 184 appearances for the Pharaos, believes that the Glamour Boys are not at the level of Al Ahly.
“Kaizer Chiefs is an average team compared to Al Ahly, and Wydad dominated possession in the two matches. But Al Ahly needs to make a lot of effort to win the tenth title,” he told OnTime Sport TV, as per Kingfut.
“The advantage of him (Mosimane) is Al Ahly trio, Dieng, El-Sulya and Hamdi Fathi, is that they can add a lot to the team offensively and defensively. Especially Dieng, who has great potential and was a great transfer for Al Ahly.”
This year’s final will take place on 17 July in Morocco when Mosimane will attempt to become the first South African coach to win the CAF Champions League for a third time.
