ABC Motsepe Playoffs Day 1 Results

The ABC Motsepe League playoffs kicked off in Mbombela on Monday, as three matches were played on the opening day.

In the first match of the day in Group C, Platinum City Rovers, coached by former Orlando Pirates winger Tlou Segolela, walked away with a tight 1-0 victory over BCM Stars, coached by Tshepo Motsoeneng, who has now led three different Eastern Cape teams to the playoffs in three consecutive seasons. 

Tebogo Letlhake scored the only goal of the game, from the penalty spot.

In the second match, a Group B game, hosts FC Sivutsa were 2-1 victors over the Northern Cape’s Hungry Lions.

Brite De Lange and Mokibelo Ramabu scored for Sivutsa, coached by Innocent Mayoyo, while Kobus Kok pulled one back in the second half for Lions.

In the final game of the day in Group A, the Lebogang Mothibantwa-coached Mangaung Unite took the lead through Sizwe Mkhwanazi against Umvoti, the goal coming from the penalty spot. Sandile Goqo headed in an equaliser for the KwaZul-Natal champions, but Vuyisile Wana grabbed a late winner for the Free State team in a 2-1 win.
