Hollywoodbets Super League Wrap

Week 10 of the Hollywoodbets Super League featured only four fixtures following the postponement of the three other matches.

The South African Football Association (SAFA) said last week that the matches involving Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies vs University of Johannesburg (UJ), MaIndies Ladies against University of Western Cape (UWC) and the one between JVW Girls and Coal City Wizards will be played on another day because some players from the mentioned clubs were called up to the Banyana Banyana squad preparing for the international friendly with the Netherlands next month – which has since been cancelled due to some Covid-19 cases in camp.

Durban Ladies continued where they left off on their high scoring horse, defeating Golden Ladies 5-1 in Mafikeng to rise up to 10th position on the log with nine points from 10 matches while their opponents remain at the basement with six points from the same number of games.

Thunderbirds Ladies put another good performance as they humbled Tsunami Queens 4-0 to move to ninth spot on the standings equal on 11 points with MaIndies in seventh and Richmond United behind them. The Queens, meanwhile, are second from bottom with seven points from 10 encounters.

In Britstown, in the only televised game of the weekend, Richmond held Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) to a -2-2 draw a result that sees TUT in second position with 20 points, two points from log leaders Sundowns who have two games in hand.

First Touch Academy kept a clean sheet for a first time in five games as they defeated Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies 2-0 in Tsakane on Sunday. The Limpopo side has equalled points with TUT in second position and UCW ahead of them in third from nine games while Siwelele are behind First Touch in fifth place with 19 points from 10 outings.
