Veteran Pyramids forward Dodo Elgabas believes Mamelodi Sundowns will provide a sterner test than Orlando Pirates, who they eliminated in the semi-finals.
The Egyptian Premier League side, in their second-ever campaign in the CAF Champions League have reached the final of the competition, and need to overcome another South African giant, and 2016 winner, Sundowns, should they want to lift the title.
But the 38-year-old feels they are prepared for the challenge, having faced Masandawana in the group stages last season and beaten Pirates in a thrilling second leg tie in Cairo last month.
“I think we had a very good game against Pirates, we know South African football, it’s technical players, we know they like to play football on the ground, we played Orlando last month, we had a game against Sundowns, we’re used to this football,” Elgabas said.
“Maybe it’s an advantage we played against Orlando, I don’t know, they are two big teams, but Sundowns has more experience in competitions like this, and I think they play a bit different type of football.
“They both play good football, but everyone has their own tactics. I think Sundowns will be harder.”
The two sides meet for the 1st leg of the African Champions League final tomorrow at Loftus Versfeld (15h00).
