Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes Mamelodi Sundowns will beat Pyramids FC 1-0 at home in the first leg of the CAF Champions league final.
The highly-anticipated match will kick of at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, while the second leg takes place in Cairo a week later.
Sundowns are the favourites heading into the game, having won the competition in 2016 and reached the latter stages of the competition regularly, while Pyramids are in their first final.
Khanye believes, even though Pyramids have a strong team, they will get undone by Pyramids on Saturday.
“It’s a very, very tough CAF Chamoions League final,” he told this website.
“The top two teams in the entire Africa, on the continent. Let me start with Pyramids – a very good team in terms of tactical, a very tactical team. I think they’ve got experienced players, majority of the players.
“I think it’s experience against experience, but Sundowns players have a bit more at this level.
“Pyramids are number two in the Egyptian League behind Al Ahly in number one. They’ve assembled great individual and experienced players, a well-assembled team, very organised team in defense.
“They’ve got my Mayele, a top-class target man. He’s a finisher. An animal, if I can put it that way. They’ve got the player that is playing in the middle, I think it’s from DRC, number seven, a holding midfielder. A very, very good player, technically, can play in a tight space. He’s the one who’s linking defense and attack.
“It’s going to be difficult, a very, very difficult final, but also very, very exciting.
“Looking at Sundowns, well done coach Miguel, I think he deserves the Coach of the Season. They’ve got many starters from Bafana Bafana. The understanding between the coach and players is wonderful.
“I think they will get lots of awards this year, I’m talking about Lucas Ribeiro, Player of the Season, Midfielder of the Season should go to Mokwena. Also Mudau, a contenter for Defend of the Season for me.
“They’ve got a very strong team, experienced players. I think sometimes they enjoy to play big games. They’ve been they’re familiar with this trophy. It’s not going to be the new thing.
“So for me, I see Sundowns winning, because of the the group of players they’ve got. A very strong mentality and character. They can play anywhere the way they want. They they hardly get offended by the opposition.
“I don’t think Pyramids will match Sundowns in terms of playing. I’m sure they know who they’re playing against. So I see Sundowns winning, it’s going to be 1-0 and Ribeiro is going to score.”
