Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller has revealed what he told his players at half-time of their 6-1 riot over CR Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League on Sunday.
The Egyptian side conceded first inside 21 minutes and levelled just as they went into the break only to return and annihilate Belouizdad before they netted five second-half goals.
The result saw Ahly move to the top of Group C with seven points, followed by Orlando Pirates in second place with five points, while the Algerian side remained in third place with three points and Stade d’Abidjan at the bottom of the group with one point.
Koller expressed his joy at the comeback and that he told his charges how great they were and that they needed to prove that in front of their fans.
“After falling behind by a goal against Belouizdad in the first half, I spoke with the players during the break between the two halves of the match, and I confirmed that they are great players” Koller told Al Ahly’s website.
“And they have to prove that in front of the fans present in the stadium. The players showed confidence, focus and spirit in the second half, and this made the difference after the good psychological treatment we provided”.
“We have to be happy with the big win over Chabab Belouizdad and scoring six goals, without neglecting the difficult challenges ahead, which require us to be fully focused”
