Orlando Pirates captain Innocent Maela has discussed Patrick Maswanganyi’s penalty miss and his emotions after the final whistle against Cape Town City.
Maswanganyi missed a spot-kick against City in the 70th minute when the game was still tied at 0-0, with City scoring the winner just four minutes later.

After the final whistle, Tito broke down to tears and Maela insisted it shows how much he cares about the team before highlighting that they’ve learnt their lessons from the tough defeat.
“When you play the way that we did, dominate the way that we did, and the result doesn’t go your way and players are upset and angry, I think that’s always a good sign because it shows the character that we have,” he told local media.
“It shows that we want to win and win and win. Tito is a good professional, a few hours after the game he started analysing his match, how he can improve and get better.
“Obviously as a team when we analyse how dominant we were, obviously the feeling after the game doesn’t reflect how well we played.
“And everyone is excited for the next game, we are looking forward to it, the City game is gone now, and let’s go for tomorrow.”
The Buccaneers face CR Belouizdad in the CAF Champions League on Sunday, and could qualify for the knockout stages with a win.
