Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Neo Maema says it was disappointing to concede so late, and they know they need to lift themselves to win the CAF Champions League in Cairo.
Sundowns were seemingly headed to a 1-0 win over Pyramids at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday but conceded with the last kick of the game when Walid El-Karti bundled home the equaliser, which holds more weight as an away goal than Lucas Ribeiro Costa’s opener.

Sundowns need to outscore Pyramids or secure a draw with two goals or more to win lift their second African Champions League title in their history, and Maema says they have no choice but to lift their heads and improve.
“Disappointed with the result, it’s our first final in many years and we’re expected to win, we played well, we wanted the advantage, so it’s unfortunate,” Maema said.
“It’s a final so I feel like we just have to regroup, support each other, because it’s only one game, 90 minutes, we have to go there to Cairo and have the games of our lives.
“There was disappointment in the dressing room, but we know there’s still another game to play for, we need to do our best to make sure we get that result. Mistakes happen, we knew they a team who play crosses, so it was just disappointing.”
The 29-year-old has scored one goal in 17 games for Sundowns this season but has earned his way back into the team after his recent exploits to help Bafana Bafana qualify for the African Nations Championship set to take place in June in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
