Mofokeng Opens Up On Historic Win In Cairo

Orlando Pirates talent Relebohile Mofokeng says they always expect to win in reaction to beating Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League in Cairo on Saturday evening.

Pirates secured their third away win in four attempts against the record 11-time African champions to win Group C unbeaten with 14 points, four ahead of the Red Devils.

Mofokeng got the scoring underway with a deft touch before Hussein El Shahat pulled one back before Tshegofatso Mabasa’s late winner.

“Yes we always expect to win, obviously we always want to win, so yeah, I think we worked hard for the win, they are a very good team and managed to play [well] against us,” Mofokeng said about the game, as per SABC Sport.

“It was a very good game, I just thank God that we managed to win. I’m very happy to win here in Cairo, they are a very challenging team here in Cairo.

“I think we managed to get the three points, we’re on top of the table and thankful [for winning the group].”

Pirates will now be seeded where they could face MC Alger, ASFAR, Mamelodi Sundowns or Pyramids FC in the quarter-finals of Africa’s elite club competition.
