Morena Addresses Disrespect And Muthi Allegations

Jwaneng Galaxy head coach Morena Ramoreboli says he will fight against the disrespect they receive in the CAF Champions League and addressed the allegations of muthi.

Galaxy have been accused by several clubs in the competition of being beneficiaries of positive results due to the alleged use of black magic in their fixtures.

With massive results against Simba SC and Wydad coming in previous seasons, eliminating Orlando Pirates at the same stage last year, Galaxy have often shaken the apple cart.

But the rising club on the continent comes with it’s pros and cons, with their coach admitting respect is earned in football.

“If you go into the bible when David was to face Goliath, nobody believed David would win, and the only time they gave respect and support, was after he won,” he said.

“Being small, you will always be undermined, as people look at you as if you can’t do what the giants are doing. So if you take it personally, it’s a problem. But you need to understand that before Pirates are big, there were other clubs thinking they can’t do anything.

“So the respect and commitment we give to the game, will always help us. It’s not something we should be worried about. I know you’re trying to put it nicely but at some point, there was the issue muthi and everything.

“I say if Botswana can’t qualify for AFCON and you’re saying a team for Botswana is using muthi, why does that muthi not help the national team qualify for AFCON, why can’t African teams win the World Cup? African teams are using muthi, that’s the belief.

The former Cosafa Cup winning coach with the South Africa national team says he will continue to build the brand and explained why he’s often had heated altercations with media on their travels on the continent, to fight for the respect of the Botswana Premier League champions.

“The biggest problem with society is when something good happens, we look for something wrong or negative in what is happening. So sometimes when you’re not strong mentally, it will kill you. Personally I accept when I’ve been discredited or not respected they way I’m expecting,” he explained.

“I know not many will understand where we come from, I expect that with the team I’m leading, the must understand not everyone will respect them. As an example [Kabelo] Dlamini wearing a Pirates jersey, commands so much respect.

“But take Dlamini and give him a Jwaneng jersey, it’s a different person because people don’t respect what you’re doing, they respect the badge and at the moment – Pirates deserve that respect because of how they have been working.

“And for us to get there, we must work, remain humble, respect everyone and accept opinions, I will always respect Jwaneng Galaxy. I will work hard to make this club a better team.”
