Williams – We Can’t Question The Decisions

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams says it’s not easy to lose coaches but they are professionals that need to be at their best level every day.

Williams was speaking ahead of their CAF Champions League group stage clash against Raja Athletic Club on Sunday, which marks Muguel Carodoso’s first game in charge.

The former Esperance Sportive de Tunis, who ironically knocked Sundowns out of the competition at the semi-final stage last season against then-head coach Rulani Mokwena replaced Manqoba Mngqithi this week.

He departed with Wendell Robinson and Romain Folz, while Cardoso joined this week with three members of his technical staff, who have a couple of days to prepare for their challenge of a first win in the group stage this season.

“Obviously it’s not easy [to lose coaches], it’s difficult because we get attached and at Sundowns, the first thing is the brotherhood and the family, we want that family orientation and when we lose certain family members, it’s not easy,” he said.

“But being in the sporting world, in football, it’s our job and we need to be professional, the guys have taken… in the beginning it was tough but the guys know, that they have a job to do and that’s for Mamelodi Sundowns to be at the best level possible each and every day.

“We can’t question the decisions, we just have to do what we can, which is play football, be the best and take Sundowns up to the level that it should be.”
