Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi currently leads the Carling Black Label Cup coach leaderboard with 34056 votes ahead of Orlando Pirates’ Jose Riveiro in second place sitting on 30008 votes.
Mngqithi has had mixed start to his tenure at the helm of the Brazilians having already lost the Carling Knockout Cup final against Magesi FC. The former Sundowns number two also saw his charges lose their first league game of the season when they went down 1-0 to Polokwane City.
He however looks like he is steering the ship in the right direction as they are unbeaten in the past two matches after playing to a 0-0 draw against AS Maniema Union in the CAF Champions League group stage opener before a resounding 3-0 success over Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership.
Last year, Riveiro was selected by the fans to lead the Carling All Star XI as they beat champions Stellenbosch FC 2-1. This year, however, Mngqithi has so far been voted by the fans to lead the team which means he could once again face Magesi after the Clinton Larsen-led side stunned Sundowns in this year’s edition.
