Former Kaizer Chiefs winger and iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has predicted the outcome of the Carling Black Label Cup between Stellenbosch FC and the PSL All Star XI.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch qualified by lifting the Carling Knockout Cup, their first ever trophy, and Khanye believes Steve Barker’s side will have too much quality for the team made up of players from different PSL sides, mixed with starlets from the DStv Diski Challenge.
“A very, very close game, that’s what I’m expecting,” he told iDiski Times.
“But obviously because of the short term preparation for the All Star team, that is a selection to selection team, it’s not a team that usually play to together. But you can’t deny the quality.
“There are a few players that I have questions why they are there, but we can’t we can’t fault them, they are chosen.
“Stellies are one of the structured teams, a very young and exciting team. And when I’m talking about the structure, I like their continuity.
“They had exciting players before, Mendieta, Jabaar, Du Preez but they managed to replace those players.
“So a well-coached team, a team that just recently won the Carling Knockout trophy and they are not doing that in the DStv Premiership. They just had some inconsistency in the Premiership.
“So I’m expecting one of the best games, you can’t deny the quality of the individuals from All Star team, but Stellies they are going to win, because they are used to play together, their quality is very high.
“They’ve won the Carling Knockout, the front-three is very, very quick. They will go behind the defence of the All Star team.
When asked for a score prediction, Khanye put his name on the chopping block and replied: “My score prediction is a 3-2 for Stellies.”
The Carling Black Label Cup will kick off at 15:00 on Saturday at the Peter Mokhaba Stadium. So far, over 15,000 tickets have been sold and more are still available for just R40.
