Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has stated there’s a core group of youngsters who are capital investment for the club.
Since his arrival, Samkelo Zwane, Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi have been regular features in his squad.

Another academy graduate, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, returned to the starting eleven in their 2-2 draw with Magesi and has struggled with form and injuries over the past couple of seasons, but remains an integral part of the club’s plans.
“Zwane, Vilakazi, Duba, Ngcobo, Shabalala, these players are capital [investments] for Kaizer Chiefs,” he said.

“They are great capital, which says that we need to complete the team with players of experience and quality to make even the youngsters grow with them and make Chiefs reach better places.
“It doesn’t mean we want to put them aside and replace them but to come in and compete and make a good balance in the team.”
With Chiefs suffering two defeats and a draw in their last three league games, their only clean sheet came in the cup when they thrashed SuperSport United 4-0 to set up a fierce tie against Masandawana, one which saw the Tshwane giants won as they progressed to the last four after a resounding 4-0 success.
Nabi feels there’s room for improvement, but not something they should lose too much sleep over when they assess the opening games of the 2024/25 season.
“It’s normal in football to concede goals, Magesi in their previous game they scored against Pirates, the league leaders, three goals,” Nabi said.
“If you look at the data against all our opponents, except Sundowns, those opponents only had one or two chances to score, which they scored…
“It shows us our defence has been doing some good work but as well, we can’t hide that there’s room for improvement in that area.”
