Chiefs Skipper Makes Bold DDC Title Claim

Kaizer Chiefs stand-in captain Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi reckons their mentality has changed and believes they can go all the way and win the DStv Diski Challenge title.

This could be their year as the Amakhosi juniors are closing in on winning their first ever DDC league title after managing to collect seven points out of a possible nine.

Chiefs claimed bragging rights in their Soweto Derby clash against Orlando Pirates with a narrow 1-0 win before hammering SuperSport United 4-0 at home and then collected a point away from home against Stellenbosch FC.

It the past seasons, Chiefs always had good players but couldn’t push as far as this for the DDC league title, with the 19-year-old Nkosi, who has been the pillar in that Chiefs midfielder explained what Dillon Sheppard, Muzi Maluleka and Aubrey Mathibe brought to the DDC side.

“The past three games has been tough, so we said we gonna try get maximum points at least nine if not nine we get seven points since we knew we gonna play Stellenbosch at home. So, we can here at least expect three points or a draw,” Nkosi told iDiski Times.

“We worked very hard, we have good coaches around us since you know coach [Dillon] Sheppard is from the first team, our physical trainer Mr [Muzi] Maluleka and the goalkeeper coach so they came here and told us guys we have to win this because we had good players before but we were not able to win, we’ve been in the top five, top six.

“I think now the mentality changed we want to go all the way and we gonna win it.”
