Downs Delay Stellies’ DDC Party

Mamelodi Sundowns scored a late goal to stay in touching distance of leaders Stellenbosch and push the DStv Diski Challenge league title race to the last match day of the season.

Stellenbosch FC claimed an important win that pushed them closer to their second DDC league title in a space of three seasons.

In-form Thulani Mini scored the most important goal for Stellies, which meant that Sundowns must win their encounter against TS Galaxy the following day.

After the Saturday result, Downs had no other choice but to win against Galaxy. After a goalless first half, Sundowns pushed for that important goal which they eventually found deep in the second half.

With both sides winning this means that the title race will continue to the last day with Stellenbosch sitting top with 66 points and Sundowns on second place with 63 points.

Stellies go into to the last day with +34 goal difference, meanwhile Sundowns is sitting on +30. The Cape Winelands side needs a draw in the last game then they will be crowned champions.
