Mamelodi Sundowns kept their title hopes in the DStv Diski Challenge alive after beating Richards Bay away from home on Sunday.

Sundowns came to this game knowing that dropping points was not an option after Orlando Pirates won on Saturday to go six points clear.

Downs had a good start into the game with South Africa under-20 International Thato Sibiya opening the scoring in the 26th minute.

Sundowns doubled their lead two minutes before half-time, courtesy of Gomolemo Kekana 2-0 to take a two-goal cushion into the break.

There was no change in scoreline, as Sundowns closed their gap on log leaders to three points, pushing the title race into the last two games.

They will face Kaizer Chiefs next weekend before finishing the season against Pirates in a top-of-the-table clash.

Meanwhile, defending champions Kaizer Chiefs lost 2-0 to Stellenbosch FC, while AmaZulu beat Chippa United 2-1.
