Jessica Gives Latest Khune Update

Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung says the club is still engaged in talks with club legend Itumeleng Khune.

Last season, the club stated Khune was in his final campaign before transitioning into a new role within Chiefs, as they celebrated his 25 years at the club.

However, Khune insisted he was not ready to retire and not willing to bow down to what the club statement said or be forced into retirement.

At the age of 37, Khune has fallen down the pecking order at the Soweto giants and is officially a free agent after his contract expired at the end of June, thus also not with the club in Turkey for their pre-season camp.

“In terms of Khune, the club will make an announcement, we certainly were in discussions with Khune, he’s part of the family, 25 years, I mean he’s like a little brother to me you know,” Motaung said.

“We’re having discussions around what the opportunities are with him and we look forward to announcing those in the future.”

Khune has won 12 trophies at Chiefs, including three league crowns over his illustrious career.
