Jessica – Why Chiefs Appointed Nabi

Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung has explained why the club opted for Nasreddine Nabi as their new head coach.

The Tunisian mentor was unveiled by the club on Sunday after joining the squad during their pre-season camp in Turkey.

Nabi arrives at the club with high laurels after winning back-to-back trebles with Tanzanian giants Young Africans before finishing runners-up with ASFAR in Morocco’s Botola Pro.

During the launch of the Toyota Cup where Chiefs will face Nabi’s former side Yanga at Bloemfontein Stadium on 28 July, Motaung addressed the arrival of their new head coach.

“I believe that we’ve done all the work to make sure that we have the right team, the right coach to take Chiefs to the next level,” she said.

“We’re looking forward to his work, and the team that he’s assembled and also the younger players and the older players who’ve been part of the squad.”

Motaung then praised the club’s sporting department around Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. and Football Manager Bobby Motaung for picking Nabi after “scouring the world” for their new coach, explaining why they picked the Tunisian tactician.

“We looked at a number of things, we looked for the right coach who has coached on the continent, who understands the Chiefs brand, who understands where we want to go. A coach who has got hunger and passion for success, passion for the Chiefs brand and a whole lot more,” she added.

“I must say well done to the Sporting Director and the entire football department together with the Football Manager for the extensive work they did in scouring the world, it wasn’t just a continental decision.

“We’ve looked at a number of coaches and the presentations that were made and a thorough analysis in finding the right team to work with us.

“I must congratulate them on that work and I’m excited, we’ll give them all the support as a board, as an organisation and also as the fans to make sure that Chiefs goes to where it needs to be from a success point of view.”
