Johnson Reveals Tempers Flared In Chiefs Dressing Room

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Cavin Johnson has revealed that tempers flared between his players in the dressing after their 1-0 defeat against relegation-threatened Richards Bay.

Chiefs suffered their third successive loss and 10th in the league overall in their 1-0 defeat to Bay on Sunday, which left them sitting 10th in the league table. Out of their last 10 games, Amakhosi have only won one and they also just scored four goals.

After the match, Johnson revealed that Chiefs players were arguing in the dressing room after missing too many chances and failing to collect maximum points against Bay.

“Again, one of those games your opposition has one chance at goal, you have 85% ball possession, and we are not able to win the game. Yes, we are very angry with ourselves but at the same time I thought we should have won the game in the first half,” Johnson told the media in KZN.

“Second half, it was little bit difference. But the first we had a lot of possession. We got in the box quite a few times and we should have put combinations or calmness to score the goals, but it was not to be today.

“I can tell you that my players in the dressing room are arguing with each other because these are the things we know we should be better, but it was not to be today.

“I think as we talk now it looks like Richards Bay have won the league and good luck to them. We have to go back, and we have to start again even though we got six games left now.”

“The tied must turn for Kaizer Chiefs somewhere, we have to get better in front of the goals.

“Because as far as ball possession is concerned, as far as playing the right players is concerned, I don’t think we are making those mistakes. But as far as putting the ball in the back of the net is concerned, we must be better.”

Chiefs will next face SuperSport on Saturday, with Gavin Hunt’s side without a win in the DStv Premiership in 2024 so far.
