Khanye Reacts To Pirates’ 7-1 Demolition Of Arrows

Junior Khanye has heaped praise on Orlando Pirates following their 7-1 thrashing of Golden Arrows, especially Tshegofatso Mabasa but criticised one aspect of his game.

Mabasa grabbed his first career hat-trick to move to the summit of the joint-top goal scorer chats with 10 goals, while Pirates moved to third position on the log with 37 points, two points from Stellenbosch FC in second position from 23 games.

Khanye applauded the attackers for how they showed individual brilliance, but also cautioned Mabasa to guard against being too casual in taking spot-kicks which can blemish his numbers and potentially deny him opportunities.

“Credit to Orlando Pirates attackers,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“Pirates played like a big team, Pirates played like how Pirates is supposed to play. I’ll give them credit where it’s due.

“Mabasa gave them reference, the guy raised his hand whenever he was needed. The striker scored two, three goals despite missing a penalty.

“He was just casual. He must fix that because there might be a scout from Europe, who may want him looking at his goals but may be discouraged by that casualness. It could deny him opportunities.

“Pirates hardly lost the ball when they were moving forward. They only used speed when it was necessary when moving forward and all of them as a team moved forward.

“Everybody complimented each other. Check Mabasa’s goal from Lebitso, their positioning and how they aligned so, compliments to Orlando Pirates, that’s why they scored seven. ”
